Performance of the winning song
The winning song will be arranged for chorus and band by award-winning conductor/arranger/songwriter Chris Eastburn and performed by the Family Folk Chorale, a multigenerational chorus, ages 3-80, on Sunday, March 29, 2020.
Our spring concert, which marks our 20th anniversary, will celebrate the music of Martin Sexton. We are very honored that Martin Sexton will be joining us in person to perform at Cary Hall, a 750-seat theater in Lexington, MA.
What does a winning song look like?
-
First and foremost, we are looking for a well-crafted song, lyrically and musically.
-
It could be upbeat or a ballad, in a style of your choice – rock, pop, folk, bluegrass, country.
-
It needs at least a refrain melody that is satisfying to sing as a group (will be harmonized in the choral arrangement), and lyrics and theme appropriate for a multi-generational chorus.
-
To give you an idea of songs we love to sing, listen to "Gentle Arms of Eden" by Dave Carter and Tracy Grammar, "Swimming to the Other Side" by Pat Humphries, "Paradise" by John Prine, and "Potato" by Cheryl Wheeler.
